Any medium: something significant regarding civic (“citizen”) behavior

I’ve taken this one a little loosely when thinking of civic behavior.

We begin in October of 1985 when a certain pink haired rockstar debuted on national television:

Very quickly Jem became a legend. The series dealt with heavy subjects for a Saturday morning cartoon such as teen suicide, overdose & drug addiction, sabotage (SO MUCH SABOTAGE), and even was one of the very first animated shows to hint at a lesbian relationship (Kimber x Stormer forever!) These themes were part of the reason Jem acquired such a wide fan fanbase (hello William Shatner – you’re outrageous!); but more strongly the show had 187 music videos and 131 songs in a very new post-MTV world. The music is what fans have hung onto for so long!

For years fans have hoped for a modern day revival of the series and creator Christy Marx was on board!

I would like to see that happen. I don’t want to go into a lot of detail, but the whole rights situation for Jem is very, very complicated. Believe me, if there were a simple straightforward way to do it, it would be done. But there are some very big complications that are in the way at the moment.

Here we are 30 years later and Jem and the Holograms are returning to the world of moving image – in a non-animated way. And fans are outraged:

The backlash is so big that the actual exec’s commented on the craziness:
I

t is a hundred per cent true to the spirit of Jem, like 100%, and I think that people will be very pleasantly surprised. So in that way it’s good—maybe lowering expectations is good. But I think people will be pleasantly surprised for sure.

yeah. ok.

Over the past four years I feel as though I’ve grown emensly as a person. One of the things I learned about myself is that my anxiety causes me to not do something I may have originally been excited about. My body subconsciously reacts making me sick.

“We really don’t know much about it. The more people are aware of the disorder and how it impacts the lives of women, the more it will infiltrate into the medical curriculum. People are seen many times with pelvic pain, and they are brushed away because doctors can’t recognize the symptoms”
